Frequently Asked Questions

Transparency is a core value at Champions for Kids. We provide regular updates to our community through our impact reports, ensuring you see exactly how your redirected tax dollars are securing better outcomes for students with disabilities. If you have specific questions about our financial allocation or how your gift is put to work, we invite you to reach out to our team directly. We are always happy to share our progress with you.

No. This specific credit is designed for individuals who pay Arizona state income tax. However, if you are a non-resident who still has an Arizona tax liability (due to property, business, or other income within the state), you may be eligible to utilize the credit to offset that specific liability.

When filing your state taxes, you will use Arizona Form 321. You will need to provide our organization’s name and our specific QCO Code: 22877. This form calculates the credit that will be applied directly against your total tax due.

While the Arizona charitable tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your state taxes, the donation may also be eligible as a charitable deduction on your federal tax return if you itemize. We recommend consulting with a tax professional to see how a gift to Champions for Kids fits into your overall tax strategy.

This is a critical distinction for Arizona donors. A tax deduction lowers the amount of income you are taxed on. A tax credit—like the one offered for donating to a QCO—is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of the actual tax you owe. If you owe the state $1,000 and give $495 through this credit, your remaining tax bill drops to $505.

The QCO tax credit (Form 321) is specifically for individual taxpayers and married couples. However, businesses interested in supporting system-level excellence in special education can often deduct contributions as a business expense or make “in-kind” donations. We also have corporate sponsorship opportunities.  Contact us directly to discuss corporate partnership options.

Arizona law allows you to make your donation for the current tax year up until April 15th of the following year. This gives you the unique opportunity to see exactly what you owe the state before deciding how much of that liability you want to redirect toward supporting students with disabilities.

We are here to help. While we cannot provide formal tax advice, we can help you navigate the donation process and provide any documentation your tax preparer may need. For specific inquiries regarding your contribution to the Arizona charitable tax credit, please reach out to our team.
